Description
This volume contains the proceedings of the meeting held in Italy, February 1996, dedicated to neuromuscular diseases during development. The choice of this subject has been suggested by the progress which has been accomplished during the last decade in this field, mostly due to the recent advances in genetics which now enable a new nosographic approach, as well as different diagnostic strategies. Part of the meeting was dedicated to the rehabilitation of the patient affected by neuromuscular disease, as well as to prevention and prenatal diagnosis. While the search for a cure for these diseases continues, physicians use all presently available means of aid and support to provide patients with better conditions of everyday life, and to ensure that their distress is at least partly relieved.
